I recently had the honor of capturing a special bond between Alex and her senior pup, Precious. You see, Alex had volunteered for my 4 paws over 10 senior pet project because Precious was 13 years old and she wanted to have beautiful images together with her. After she contacted me, we were able to work together to get the best outfit for Precious, and Alex picked out a beautiful blue dress.
Alex has had Precious since Alex was 10 years old, when she first saw Precious, dressed in colorful ribbons and so tiny she could fit in just one hand. As Alex and Precious began their life journey, they cuddled in blankets, took car rides, picked out fabulous clothes, bandanas, and bows. Alex even fed Precious her favorite foods of blueberries and watermelon through their journey of life. As Precious's condition started to deteriorate, Alex and I knew we had to move up our planned session.
We scheduled a session a couple weeks earlier on the schedule, and I went out to scope a great evening location. A couple of days before our session, our city got rain, which made for a great accent to Alex's session. Her brother, AJ, even came to help arrange clothing or hold equipment to create great lighting for his sister's session. Alex showed up in a beautiful blue dress that perfectly complemented Precious's princess dress. With the park in the background, I went to work to capture the joy between them. We photographed a variety of different poses to accentuate both the background and the love Alex and Precious shared.
The golden light of the evening was just perfect, creating a warm ambiance. The creek created a great backdrop. The day was full of laughs, memories that Alex and AJ shared with me, and beautiful pieces that I knew Alex would enjoy and cherish long after Precious was gone. I am honored that Alex chose me and volunteered for my 4 Paws over 10 project, allowing me to capture the JOY in their special relationship. Precious passed a couple of weeks after we completed our session. May she rest easy and watch over Alex until they are reunited past the Rainbow Bridge.
I am forever thankful to be able to work with clients like Alex and Precious. Our pets never live long enough, and this session was a reminder of how everyone's time is limited, even our precious pets. I am honored to be able to do these sessions, and when I learn of one's passing, it affects not only the owner, but me as well. I am so glad the photographs are ones that Alex and I will both cherish. Thank you Alex for letting me capture both of your personalities in these images!
