Last year, during a monthly photography guild meeting, I sat in on a presentation that sparked something in me. The speaker was sharing how personal projects had transformed his photography journey—how they gave deeper meaning to the moments he captured.
It got me thinking.

Our furry family members never live long enough. We don’t always notice the little changes at first, but then one day, we realize they’re slowing down.
🐾 Does your dog hesitate before chasing the ball, when before, the answer was always an enthusiastic CHASE IT!?
🐴 Does your horse need a little extra veterinary care to keep going on trail rides or to shows? Have you noticed new white hairs on their face—marking the years of love and companionship you’ve shared?
🐱 Has your cat suddenly developed gray fur behind her dark ears? (Yep, this just happened to me.)
These moments, though subtle, remind us how precious our time together is. And once our beloved pets are gone, all we have left are the memories—their paw prints forever on our hearts.
I started wondering: How can I help pet owners celebrate their senior pets and preserve that incredible bond in a meaningful way?
The Lightbulb Moment
That’s when inspiration struck. I launched the 4 Paws Over 10 Project—a personal passion dedicated to capturing senior pets (10+ years for dogs and cats, 20+ for horses) in timeless portraits. My goal? To ensure that every pet parent who participates receives at least one professionally printed photograph to display in their home—a beautiful, tangible memory they can cherish forever.
What I didn’t expect was how deeply this project would touch not just my clients, but me as well. Many of you who participated have become more than clients—you’ve become friends. The stories you’ve shared, the love you have for your pets—it’s all been so incredibly moving.
And when some of you reached out to tell me that your sweet senior had crossed the rainbow bridge… I felt those losses with you. Because I’ve been there too. More times than I wish to count..
Because of the impact this project has had, I’m continuing it again this year. This exclusive project is for those who want to celebrate their senior pets before it’s too late. Those who are selected will receive a special complimentary print in exchange for allowing me to refine my posing and lighting techniques for senior pet sessions.
📸 Why Now?
We often put off getting professional photos, waiting for the "perfect" moment—more time, better weather, a special occasion. But the truth is, there’s no better time than now. Selfies are fun, but they don’t compare to a professional portrait that truly captures your pet’s spirit, personality, and the love you share. If your furry best friend is a senior, don’t wait.
Apply now to be considered for this year’s 4 Paws Over 10 Project, and let’s create memories that will last a lifetime.
