Spring is here. You are seeing photos of families with their horses or furry family members in beautiful settings, and you may be wondering, when did these people have their sessions done, and when is the best time to do a portrait session?
Well I am here to tell you that NOW is the best time to schedule a portrait session. The truth is that our family members, whether they be human or have 4 legs, will never be this age again. Your horse is starting to show his age with gray around his face, and needs meds occasionally to help him feel his best. Your kids are nearing the end of the school year, some even preparing to spread their wings and go off to college. Your dog doesn't chase the ball quite as fast as they used to.
Take this photo below.
This sweet boy and his momma were such a joy to photograph this last Christmas. Did we have any idea at the time that in February, he would be diagnosed with 2 types of cancer, and his time with her was limited? No.

Let me say something that my Dad used to tell me that rings true even more now.. If you wait until you have enough money/time/ideal weight/best weather, you will never have photos to cherish the special moments you have had with your family members.
Here's another example, and this one is personal.
This handsome boy is Sky. I have loved horses as long as I can remember, but have never had the privilege of getting to own one. I have had many who have held my heart, but probably none more recently than Sky.
His owner was gracious enough to let me be his bonus "mom", and while I had snapshots of him, I never had a formal portrait session done with him. He passed suddenly in 2015, and I am thankful for the few images hanging in my home to remember our time together.
But what about Christmas you say??
Let's say you know you want to have family portraits done with your horse or dog for your Christmas card. The truth is that during the fall and winter, your horse is in her winter woolies, and your dog is extra fluffy. While it's ok to do a portrait session then, it can be hard to find the time as the holidays come close to get everyone together and looking their best.
When you have your portrait session done in the spring and summer, your horses and dogs are in their best coat condition. The best part also is that you don't have to fight to have your preferred time and date.
Now you're thinking ok, but what if I need holiday gifts for family members??
During the holidays, getting products delivered in time can be stressful. Almost ALL vendors I get professional products from have deadlines so that they can ensure I can get your gifts to you in plenty of time to put under the tree.
When you have your session during the spring and summer, those deadlines don't matter, and the stress of holiday shopping isn't there.
I mean, who needs more stress in their life during the holidays? I know I don't!
There's also plenty of time to plan and spread out your holiday expenses, which mean more time and more money in your pocket at the end of the year.
Stop waiting for the perfect time or moment to capture the love you have with your horses or dogs in your family.
I can help you take tasks off your list, help you look you and your horses your best, and make life a bit easier, all the while bringing joy to your special moments with those you love so much.
