As a professional photographer, continuing education is a core part of how I provide you with beautiful, lasting images and products you’ll love for a lifetime.
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend the Texas School of Professional Photography in the Dallas area. I spent an inspiring week learning from the incredible Margaret Bryant, a nationally recognized pet photographer based in the DFW area.

The class wasn’t just about snapping pictures—it dove deep into the why and how behind great pet portraits. Early in the week, we focused on understanding dog behavior, how to calmly and respectfully work with animals (hint: let them come to you!), and how to be an advocate for your pet during a session.
We also covered how to get their attention and capture those special looks that make their personalities shine.

As the week went on, we moved into lighting techniques that work beautifully in natural settings like parks or backyards, and I picked up new posing strategies to help your images feel both natural and polished.
Toward the end of the week, we focused on editing and Photoshop techniques that elevate your final artwork—so when you see your prints hanging in your home, you say “wow” every time you walk by.

Perhaps most importantly, we talked about telling your story—the one you share with your furry family member, whether they’re young and full of energy or a senior companion with years of love behind their eyes.

Let’s face it: our pets never live long enough. The only way to hold onto those precious memories is through photographs—real, tangible prints that make you smile and remember the moments you shared.
Your dog or horse deserves to be part of your story on the walls of your home.
Don’t wait—because they’ll never be this age again, and life is unpredictable.
